Motorcycle School – How to Pass a Driver's License Test The completion of a motorcycle class can usually eliminate the requirement to pass the driver's test. The course will help you to spot other drivers, maintain an appropriate distance from them, and safely ride to your ability. Both classroom instruction and riding time are included in the training. Classroom Instruction The MSF Basic Rider Course is the perfect course for anyone looking to learn how to ride a scooter or motorcycle. The class offers classroom instruction and actual training for motorcycle/scooter operators in a controlled off-street setting. The BRC is designed for novice riders and will help you avoid the MVC road test. It teaches street tactics including how to brake effectively and maneuver in tight situations and how to change lanes, and pass without causing any hazards. The five-hour ePackage 1 (eP1) eCourse can be completed as a stand-alone course or as a pre-requisite to the hands-on part of the BRC. The eCourse contains videos, interactive lessons and graphics that let you experience the principles of motorcycling. Insurance discounts may be available to you after successful completion of the course. To receive a course completion card and to take part in the riding-skill evaluation, the ePackage 1 (eP1) must be completed within 30 days of the BRC course's beginning date. No refund will be given when the eCourse is not been completed. Participants must possess a valid driver's licence to participate in the BRC. The CLASS program, which is a two-day rider-training class, allows you to develop your riding skills on a street-legal motorbike or scooter provided by the school. The class is taught by MSF certified instructors. The emphasis is on developing your confidence and skills as well as a better understanding of the motorcycle/scooter's operating systems. The class includes classroom instruction along with riding exercises and a rider skill assessment. The class is based upon the lessons of Reg Pridmore, three-time AMA Superbike Champion and his carefully selected team of instructors. Their philosophies are the product of over 50 years of riding and racing, as well as teaching. They genuinely take care of their students, and it does show. They will teach you the fundamentals you should know about riding a motorbike. This class is highly recommended to every motorcycle rider, no matter their age or experience. The instruction in the classroom was thought-provoking and informative. The riding instruction consisted of both the theory and the practice, but the main highlight was the instructor feedback. They didn't simply say “OK” however, they explained what you did wrong. For instance, “You looked down at the handlebars”, “You gave it too many gas”, “Your wrists are bent”, “You shifted too early” or “You were not pushing down on your foot peg”. Then they showed you how to fix it. This kind of personal coaching is what you pay for in a quality training course and is what sets this course from other classes. Some riders may be a bit unnatural, but I believe it is essential to give students the best chance of passing the test and riding safely. I've been to classes in the past and the instructor has never given me any feedback. There's no reason that instructors should decide whether a student can pass a course unless they are clearly threatening or hindering other students in the group. I believe that any school offering moto without personal coaching is missing a crucial aspect of their curriculum and is not worthy of the high marks they get in student reviews. Taking the Basic RiderCourse and then pursuing private lessons is the best way to get up and running quickly and safely. You can learn from an experienced instructor learn from a professional, avoid bad habits and start riding with confidence and skills you will use for an entire lifetime. The majority of states do not require written and riding license endorsement tests for students who have completed a specialized RiderCourse, and some insurance companies offer discounts for those who have completed a course. Final Exam In the second part of the course you will learn road skills, like the ability to brake and accelerate, shifting gears, turning and swerving. This portion of the class is held until you are able to pass a riding skills evaluation. This part of the course will determine if you receive your motorcycle license road test waiver card. The evaluation will include maneuvers that the DMV driver examiner will search for during your test to determine your license. It's okay if it doesn't pass the test. Keep up the good work and strive to be able to pass the next time. If you pass the test, your instructor will issue you a certificate of completion that can be used for an insurance reduction for motorcycles. You will be a certified motorcyclist, and you can legally ride your bike on the street. The MSF 3-wheel BRC is a research-based program that is action-oriented, has been designed to teach new 3 wheel motorcyclists (of all age groups) the physical and mental skills they need to be able to safely navigate the streets. The 3-WBRC consists of classroom instruction as well as two full days of instruction on motorcycles specifically designed for training. Successful completion of this course is a requirement for an NYS DMV waiver to operate only a 3-wheeled motorbike. Students must be 16 years old and wear a helmet for motorcycles that is DOT approved. Before starting class, a parent or guardian is required to sign the New York State Covid Release Indemnification and Waiver form if the student is under 18. Eye protection and sturdy riding clothes are highly recommended. Helmets are available to borrow or you can bring your own. The five-hour ePackage 1 online eCourse must be completed in order to receive your certificate of completion from your motorcycle course. The eCourse must be completed within 30 days from the date you start your riding course. The online eCourse is only able to be completed using either a computer or mobile device.
